Wesley Shoup is a tremendous athlete, a super hard-worker, a budding poet/author, and the second runner I started coaching. Similar to my first coached athlete, he reached out to me to help rehab some issues. Once he was running pain-free, I tried to cut him loose, but he's kept hanging around ever since!
I'm very grateful to him for trusting me and inspiring me to improve my coaching skills in order to be able to help someone of his level.
Wesley has big goals, including creating an event just to test himself, called The Longest Day Ever. He'll be running from sunrise to sunset (and maybe then some) this Saturday, 6/24/23, with a goal of hitting 75 miles (and maybe then some)! He is also using the event to raise money for the animal rescue center, The Farm at Oatland North.
He discusses that, his running history, and his disdain for exercises involving resistance bands in this Lane One Podcast with coach Rogelio Quintanar. Give it a listen and please consider donating to his fundraiser. And please send him good vibes and cool weather this Saturday!
Oh, almost forget! Wesley made it into the local newspaper as well. Check out this article in The Brunswick News!
