I'm really glad that I was able to connect with Matthew Moran several months ago. I discovered him through social media and found his podcast where he details his journey of getting into running & fitness starting as a New Year's resolution in 2023. He has really come a long way from just starting to run last January to running a 3:15 debut marathon this January!
I was honored to be a guest on the show. In this episode, Matt digs into my background & work as we discuss everything from my high school glory days to what I'm hoping to do with PRMD Running. We also dig into a few specific running issues like shin splints and plantar fasciitis (fasciosis), advice for new runners, hybrid athletes, and recovery.
As we also discuss in this episode, I'm a big fan of strength training for runners and I can't help but think his focus on being a hybrid athlete - strength training & running - has really contributed to his success. I hope it keeps him healthy as he takes on 2 more marathons over the next two months (I'm not condoning or condemning his goal of 3 marathons in 3 months; you do you!).
We only had a few brief online chats and a phone call before the Louisiana Marathon weekend, but then spent quite a bit of time together as we coordinated setting up my tent and stocking it with AGame hydration drinks (thank you, Alex Beane!), and then hanging out over the weekend. Matt, his family, and friends, were all such genuinely nice & caring people! He's truly undergone an amazing running, health, and spiritual journey over the last year and I'm glad he's sharing his experiences through The Next Milestone Podcast!
Good luck chasing that sub-3 Matt, I'm hopeful it's coming soon!!
